Creating a Covenant of Engagement
Thanks to all who participated in the formulation of a Covenant of Engagement discussions. The covenant will provide the rationale and guiding principles for the ways individual members engage with each other, with ministers and staff, with operating structures (Boards, committees, teams, etc.), and with the congregation as a whole. Facilitated by Rev. Connie Grant and members of the Transition Team, congregants responded to two simple questions that will provide the basis for a covenant that will help the congregation thrive.

The Covenant of Engagement will be on the agenda for the annual meeting on June 5, for a vote on whether to accept this congregational covenant.

Service Development Workshop
Wednesday, May 25, 7:00 – 9:00 by Zoom Only
Summer Service Proposals Invited
Do you have an idea for a sermon you’d like to give? A message you’d like to convey? A story you want to tell? A concept you would like to explore in a communal kind of way?  Would you like some help developing your idea into a proposal for a summer worship service that you would like to present?
Please attend our Service Development Workshop on Wednesday, May 25 from 7:00 to 9:00, sponsored by the Sunday Services Team.  Rev. Connie will help us spark some ideas and learn some tools for this special kind of communication.
Some thoughts about what makes an effective worship service:  grounded in the speaker’s experience: “Life passed through the fire of thought” (Ralph Waldo Emerson); invites listeners to respond, even when their side of the conversation is unspoken; and engages mind and heart.
You don’t have to commit to actually doing a service in order to attend the workshop.  Bring your ideas and possible dates in July or August.
RSVP to Kat Gelder at sundayserviceschair@dupageuuchurch.org by May 22.
