The church has been active in the DuPage Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) program since 2003. Pre-COVID, once a month, volunteers from the DuPage UU Church staffed an overnight housing facility at a local church where we provided dinner, breakfast, and a bag lunch plus sleeping space and support activities for the guests.
While PADS altered its program and housing post-COVID, we continue to provide financial support to PADS to ensure the homeless men, women and children who count on a helping hand continue to have access to shelter, meals, as well as mental health and employment support toward a more secure future. During the holiday season church members purchase and donate clothing, personal items, and gift cards for guests’ everyday needs.
