Our ministries are here to help navigate life’s challenges and changes.
Pastoral Ministry Associates (PMA)
Pastoral Ministry Associates work with the minister to extend care to our church members who are experiencing life changes or a difficult time.
A minister is trained to provide pastoral care for the members of their church. Pastoral care is care that helps people to make meaning of their lives, the circumstances of their lives, or sort through the big questions of life. Minister’s are not therapists; a pastoral care session is typically supplemental to other care one is receiving.
rev. mandi can provide one-on-one pastoral care sessions with members of DUUC, however, she prioritizes those that are urgent or emergency related. She does not meet with people regularly (that is, for multiple sessions over multiple weeks or months.)
The Pastoral Ministries Associates (PMAs) can provide further pastoral care through listening and one-on-one sessions, as well as meals and rides for DUUC members. PMAs are also not therapists but can provide supplemental support and care as well. They may meet with members temporarily in a more regular way or over a longer-period than rev. mandi depending on the need.
Members, if you or your family are in need of assistance, or if you are concerned about another member of our church who may be in need, please contact co-chairs Holly Harris or Diane Gelder at pma@dupageuuchurch.org.
