Topic of Discussion: Part 2 – Death, Dying and the Afterlife: Lessons from the World Religions and Cultures (Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism)
How do the world’s religious traditions understand and approach death (and the afterlife) including the understandings of, and rituals surrounding, death in the world’s major religions. The inescapability of death and our knowledge of our mortality impact every aspect of our lives. The choices that we make are shaped in countless ways by how we think about death, what we believe happens after death, and by what death—and life—ultimately mean.
This topic of discussion benefits from reading the foundational reading material (1 paper) that is provided upon request. The primary source material is several lectures from The Great Courses (aka Teaching Company) and from a variety of Wikipedia religious websites.
