Language that Unites and Divides Us

Sunday, July 22, 2018 @ 10:00am

By Caroline Bailey and Kat Gelder

Unitarian Universalism brings together people of many beliefs in pursuit of similar values. While our values unite us, the language we use to describe our sources of inspiration can end up dividing us. When we use--or refuse--words like "faith" and "divine," the stage is set for confusion at best and offense at worst. How can we live in beloved community and affirm each other's integrity and personal journeys? What can we agree on, or agree to peacefully disagree on, and where can we go from there?

Forums will return in August.
