The Board of Trustees
Our church is governed by a member-elected Board of Trustees, consisting of 9 positions. Board members serve staggered three-year terms, with three positions expiring each year at the end of May. We have a modified policy-based model of governance which frees the board to set long-range goals and create policies and procedures to cover church operations. Committees and other groups are empowered to carry out the ministries of the church, using our policies as a guide.
Current co-presidents are Julie Resh-Jelliff and Dave Jelliff.
Committees are the backbone of our church operations. They are staffed mostly by volunteers, drawing those among us with talents and passion in a variety of areas, and enhancing a “total church experience” via thriving, engaging programs. In this way, we carry out the goals and mission of the church and also are able to live our values daily in the wider community. For governing purposes, committees are structured by the work they do or people they serve.
SPIRITUALITY includes committees such as Sunday Services, Music, Youth Religious Education, Adult Enrichment, and the Library/Bookstore.
COMMUNITY includes Visitor and Congregational Life committees, Fellowship, Chalice Circles, the LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation Group, the UU Women's Association, and TLC (helping members and friends with meals and rides when illness or other difficulties occur.)
OUTREACH serves our mission to have a positive impact on the lives of others in the wider community and to change the world in ways that reflect our values. We do this work through through PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter), Bridge Communities (helping families become financially independent), Racial justice initiative, Green Sanctuary (environmental action and justice), Reproductive justice, and the LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation Group.
STEWARDSHIP includes committee activities that ensure our financial health: Annual Budget Drive, and the annual Auction.
ADMINISTRATION committees include those that provide support activities needed by an organization, such as Facilities, Building Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Media Services, Marketing and Childcare.
These volunteer-managed teams report to the elected Board of Trustees. In addition, the Personnel Coordinator, Committee on Ministries, Nominating/Leadership Development, Endowment, and Pastoral Ministry Associates, are committees filled by church members who are either elected or appointed.
